WHITE TRUFFLE FROM ALBA (Tuber magnatum Pico) – White Alba Truffle
Hundreds of varieties of truffle exist, but the white Alba truffle is the most expensive truffle. It grows in the Langa and the Monferrato areas, and in a few other Italian areas, represents the most valuable, at times reaching the size of an apple. Such precious delicacies, yet truffles normally contain 80% water. No one would think of spending so much to buy water. The mineral elements contain mostly potassium, followed by calcium, sodium, magnesium, iron, zinc and copper. The value of the truffle does not lie in its nutritional content alone, but in its huge capacity to overwhelm the consumer with pleasure.
